MEDICAL TREATMENTS
Wrinkle and scar filling
Wrinkles and lines: Tissue fillers can be injected under the skin to fill out wrinkles and lines, add volume to certain areas of the face and help where there is sagging with age.
Scars: Filler can be very effective in lifting a scar that is indented, like acne marks or a long scar that has a sunken-in area.
Tissue fillers plump up and fill the existing wrinkles or add volume where needed.
BOTOX/Dysport paralyses the small muscle that it is injected into, stopping the muscle contractions that cause the lines and wrinkles. This releases the wrinkles and stops them from forming in the future.
To summarise: Tissue fillers give volume where injected, whereas Botox/Dysport takes away function of muscles.
Results are seen instantly, but the full effect can take up to one month to show.
The gel fillers last for approximately 9-18 months, depending on the area injected and the type of filler used.
Many people find that they need no anaesthetic for most areas. A local anaesthetic can be used, depending on the area.
The beauty of this procedure is that most patients can return to work immediately after the treatment, although redness, slight swelling and numbness may be present.
Slight bruising may occur, but this should disappear after a few days. A little redness may also occur but can easily be covered with make-up.
