Botox/Dysport for excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
Hyperhidrosis is a condition of excessive sweating that is not always related to heat or exercise. It is caused by faulty nerve signals that trigger eccrine sweat glands to become overactive.
It may be localised to the armpits, the palms or souls of the feet, the face, chest or groin area.
Botox/Dysport injections into the area block the nerve signals responsible for sweating, stopping the sweat glands from producing too much sweat.
Botox/Dysport is not a permanent solution for excessive underarm sweating. A single treatment lasts around 4–10 months, so a person needs ongoing injections.
